Former Nursing Home Employee Charge With Murder Of Patient

A caregiver at a North Carolina nursing home has been charged with murdering an elderly patient with Alzheimer’s disease with morphine. In addition to the murder charge, six counts of felony abuse were filed against the defendant, alleging further abuse of patients with morphine. According to prosecutors, the drug was likely administered to the patients to make them more manageable. Local and state authorities began their investigation into the defendant after her patients with Alzheimer’s tested positive for morphine.
