Family Claims Young Girl Died From Complications Suffered From Botox Injections

The family of a seven year old girl who died after Botox injections allegedly paralyzed her lungs, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the drug’s manufacturer. The girl had suffered from cerebral palsy, and received injections of Botox to relax her muscle spasms to help her live more comfortably. According to the lawsuit, the Botox spread its way into her lungs, causing paralysis and a cessation of normal breathing. The family of the girl is suing the manufacturers of Botox, claiming the drug should not have spread beyond the site of injection. The manufacturer defends itself by arguing the drug aided the young girl and that her death resulted in complications of her cerebral palsy. Surprisingly, Botox injections in places other than a patient’s facial tissues is not uncommon, sparking the FDA to require the Botox manufacturer to include a warning that improper injection of the toxin may spread to other parts of the body, and potentially cause death.
