$7 Million Dollar Settlement Awarded by the City of Los Angeles
Riding on his motorcycle, Steve Albala was volunteering as an official during the bicycle portion of the race, when a L.A. traffic officer waived a vehicle through an intersection directly into the path of Albala. According to Albala’s attorney, Albala was thrown some 20 feet from his motorcycle, resulting in injuries to his vertebrae. Albala underwent multiple surgeries in the past two years, and according to his wife, has not lead the same quality of life he once did before the accident. The City of Los Angeles also paid money to Albala’s motorcycle passenger, in addition to the driver of the car that struck Albala.
